Commercial Renovation project in Brecon town centre, with a Green Sedum Roof.

A single storey building that was renovated in the centre of Brecon. It was a complex project to get through Planning with Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. It shares a party wall with a listed building, is within the Brecon Conservation area and Brecon Roofscapes. It also needed an archaeological dig as it is located on a historic site.

BBNP Ecology played a role in the selection of the Green Sedum roof requesting Bio-diversity Enhancements. A special roof design incorporates a terrace of bird boxes added to the ecologically friendly renovation.

Our aim for the project design was to bring light into the interior, and to bed the building in it’s historic town context.
